Bauhaus-Oasis is a VR installation that translates Oskar Schlemmer’s Triadisches Ballett into an interactive medium. The project aims to turn the iconic figures into something that can be experienced, modeled, and physically engaged with.
The “player” combines and shapes the figures—constructed from geometric body parts—within an abstract space, then watches their compositions dance on a stage. Meanwhile, using mixed-reality technology, outside observers can watch the player immersed in the digital world.
I rigged and animated the selected figures for the application.
Bauhaus-Oasis was exhibited as part of the bauhaus100 exhibition Intermedial Experiments at the Bauhaus: Kurt Schmidt and the Synthesis of the Arts at the Orangerie of the Kunstsammlung Gera from March 23 to June 9, 2019. The installation was subsequently shown again as part of the Oskar Schlemmer exhibition at the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal from November 3, 2019, to February 23, 2020.

As direct references we used excerpts of a 1970s performance film of the dance.
Unified Rig
I created a single, game-engine-ready Rigify rig that fit all body parts of all characters. This made it easy to match all movements and ensured all animation could be applied in any combination.
